Hot Air Ballooning Over Canterbury

Experience the sheer magic of hot air ballooning over the beautiful Canterbury plains. On a fine day, expect to see a full 300km panorama with views of Mt Cook and the national park mountains and the Rakaia River. 

Your early morning adventure starts with the opportunity to take part in the amazing spectacle of inflating the balloon before you take off and watch the sun come up. The launch is so gentle you will hardly realise you have left the ground. The peace and gentleness of ballooning will surprise you and the Methven flight views are unsurpassable. As you drift along with the breeze, the scenery slowly changes until after approximately an hour in the air, it is time to land. The completion of the flight is celebrated with a champagne-styled buffet breakfast as a picnic in the field, served by a suitably attired waiter with a silver tray. You will also receive a flight certificate.
